What Is the Coaching Process ?

The coaching process is a structured, confidential partnership between a coach and a client, built around a simple cycle: clarify the real situation, set a concrete goal, explore options through guided reflection, decide on action, and review what happened.
Unlike therapy (which looks backward to heal) or consulting (which hands you an answer), coaching assumes you already have what you need to solve the problem — the process exists to make you aware of your solutions and to get you there faster and with more clarity than you'd reach alone.
That's the general shape.
Here's what it actually looks like when you work with me.
Working with me
Working with me is a partnership between two professionals — you and me — focused on helping you think more clearly, decide more confidently, and act more effectively in the situations that matter most.
It works by combining sharp and challenging questioning, focused reflection, structured strategy, and — when relevant — direct perspective drawn from two decades of leadership experience across 60+ nationalities.
As an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC), my practice operates under the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics and Core Competencies. That means clear boundaries, full confidentiality, and a professional standard you can trust.
Step 1 - Start where you are.
Most leaders contact me in the middle of something — a new role, a difficult team situation, a career decision, or a quiet sense that something needs to shift. Bringing the unfinished version of your situation is exactly the right starting point. Clarity is not a prerequisite. It's an outcome.

Step 2 - Meet me on a Free Exploration Call
Before any commitment, we have a 30-minute exploration call. The purpose is straightforward:
-
Understand what's going on for you and what you'd like to be different
-
Clarify what coaching is — and where it's the right tool versus the wrong one
-
Answer your questions about process, structure, timing, and investment
-
Give you a real sense of how I work, so you can decide on the basis of experience rather than assumption
No decision is required during or after this call. If we both agree the fit is right, we move forward through a written coaching contract that defines goals, scope, confidentiality, and responsibilities — in line with ICF standards.
Step 3 - First working session
The first working session sets the foundation. Together we:
-
Map your current situation honestly — resources, opportunities, and obstacles
-
Define and prioritize the goals that matter most to you
-
Build a tailored strategy with concrete, measurable first steps
You leave with direction, momentum, and a clear plan. Some clients arrive with sharply defined goals. Others arrive needing to clarify what the goal even is. Both are valid. Both are workable.

Steady Ahead - Ongoing Sessions
Each ongoing session is a structured, focused conversation with one consistent aim: clarity, progress, and practical action you can apply immediately in your real working life.
You will see and feel forward movement every session — through clearer thinking, new insight, or specific next steps that change something concrete in your week.
Most clients work with me for three to six months in regular sessions. Some choose shorter or longer engagements depending on their goals. There is no fixed package. The rhythm is built around what serves you best, and goals can evolve as you do.
Is Coaching Right for You?
Coaching with me works best for leaders who are willing to look honestly at their own work — patterns, strategies, blind spots, and inefficiencies included. Leaders who are not afraid to be reflected back at themselves. Who can receive feedback without defensiveness, examine their own assumptions, and confront the gap between where they are and where they want to be — when doing so is what the work requires.
That doesn't mean coaching is uncomfortable by design. The coaching space is, by professional ethics and by my own practice, a confidential and protected one. Nothing you bring into it leaves it. There is no exposure, no judgment, no audience. The only discomfort that ever arises is the productive kind — the kind that comes from looking honestly at something for the first time.
In short, this works well for you if:
-
You take ownership of your growth, including the uncomfortable parts
-
You're willing to examine your own working patterns when relevant
-
You can receive direct, honest reflection without taking it personally
-
You do the work between sessions, not only during them
-
You want practical change in real situations, not abstract self-improvement
If that describes how you operate, the next step is the free 30-minute exploration call. We figure out together whether working with me is the right fit for what you actually need.
